One man is in the hospital this afternoon after his car was hit by a train.

The accident happened just before one o'clock this afternoon in the 2200 block of Hollywood avenue. The engineer of the train stated it appear the car stalled out between the crossing arms and the driver was trying to get out of the car before the train struck his car.

The train could not stop in time and stuck the car sending it several hundred feet down the tracks. Carroll Hughes, DOB 10-30-40 from Shreveport, was taken to LSUHSC with internal and facial injuries.
